….. Nineteen eighty-four is shaping up to be a pivotal year for Delta. The fleet is expanding steadily: additional Boeing 767s enter service, while the first Boeing 757s are scheduled to join by the end of the year—aircraft expected to play a major role in Delta’s long-term domestic and international growth, as reported by Ron Allen, Delta’s President and CEO, in the company’s personnel newsletter, Delta Digest, of March 1984. Older jets are being phased out. Routes extend, including the company’s first Atlanta-originating westbound flight to Honolulu later in the year. Of particular importance is the new Dallas/Ft.
